These episodes were so frustrating. If I had the email address to the writers I would tell them, "Too much" is a bad thing. I absolutely hated the ending. There was so much attention paid to the ex-girlfriend, which she should have been written out by at least episode 6 (by the way, this should have been limited to 16 episodes). Instead, the ex-girlfriend stayed in the mix until almost the end of the show. I began disliking all of the characters the more this dragged on--especially Chae-Kyeong. Keeping the ex-in the mix the way it was done just made me think Shin will always love this girl. I hated the whole cake scene. The whole conspiracy theory made all of them look stupid--it was ridiculous. Who wants a monarch in place with those people in charge? No one. I wanted Shin and Chae-Kyeong to bring a whole new atmosphere to the palace, instead.....let me just say I was disappointed. Also, I did not find Chae-Kyeong character appealing. She came across as childish, silly, gutless and stupid. Why can't there be strong Korean women in these movies? Why can't they depict reality? You can be kind-hearted and still have a backbone. I'm so tired of the "woe is me. Somebody wants my man and I'm not going to get in the way." Really, try that in the real world. Don't get me wrong, there were so really great scenes that was lost when they brought the craziness back in the plot. Also, I know the actress that played the role of Chae-Kyeong is very popular, but I hate her acting skills because I can tell she's acting. She's good in some serious roles, but in all the shows I've seen her in, the comic roles come off badly in my opinion. I can see that she's acting or playing a role for a camera. Again, this had great potential but fell short--the romance got lost. This is not a comedy. There are some funny moments, but the overall theme is not comedy. Comedy is the Greatest Love--and well done at that.
