Pani Poni Dash!

This is a very funny series. Sometimes hard to understand some jokes due to cultural references, but nevertheless entertaining. I've seen it on Netflix and own the DVDs. The DVDs are a little easier since they provide subtitles to some of the japanese text and so add to the experience (I havent had a chance to watch on Hulu but I assume its like the netflix version). And if you're wondering about demographic, I'm a 29 year old male, and no I'm not gay. Maybe a slight nerd; but I own a gun store, not a comic book store.Some compare this to Azumanga Daioh, but I find this to be a MUCH faster pace.

I first saw this on netflix before they went mad and dropped most of the good animes from instant streaming. It uses the Class of crazy girls teacher is a ten year old genius premise but this ten year old is no push over...Though since she is ten sometimes she goes and hides in the corner. This shows cute, fun, and mildly absurd.

I'd call this show "fluffy cute", because of it's lighthearted content, but at the same time hilarious. I had trouble telling some of the characters apart in the beginning, so I recommend watching a first two episodes carefully during the introduction of the characters (there are more than couple dozens and most of them are introduced in the first two episodes). Or you could doing some pre-flight research on Wiki, just search for "Pani Poni". There are a total of 26 episodes, and the ones I found are all English-dubbed. I'd like to watch the Japanese dialog with sub to get the full effect. Towards the end of the series, there are some racy images, but nothing too extreme. A lot of the scenes has multiple elements going on all at the same time, a little too chaotic, so you may need to rewind quite a bit to catch everything. The show is addictive; I watch all 26 episodes in two days (outside of Hulu).

Love this show. First oft this show has multiple-layers in every way. From braking the normal genres that are associated with Japanese anime. The mix bag of genres clash and look random but are very much needed to complete the shorty arc(there is one).This show the second time through is even more fun. I have only seen this anime dubbed and fully enjoy and love the English speaking actors(to each is their own). Hilary Haag(pronounced Heg) is highlight of the show and the main character Becky the Teacher.You will enjoy this show whether in dubbed or subbed. Just give the show a chance.
