Padam Padam

I usually wait until the end of a drama before I give a review but generally if I can make it passed the 9th episode without being highly disgusted about some vital aspect of the show, it's a good sign that it's a drama worth watching. As another reviewer stated, Kim Bum was the number one reason I held off on watching Padam Padam. Ironically he was also the reason I ultimately picked it up. I've only seen him in BoF and got the feeling his pretty boy acting wasn't 100 percent acting if you know what I mean. I was entirely surprised his approach to this role so much so it made me go 'oh so he CAN act with more than just his good looks,' and it's painted him with a positive image in my opinion. Kim Bum aside, the show is better than I thought it was going to be. The lovey-dovey scenes aren't stomach turning and tolerable. There aren't alot of drawn out scenes of characters pondering alone against a beautiful scenery nor 50 random flashbacks of content we just saw 30 seconds ago. The leads have a lot of chemistry and the direction is superb. This is the kind of show that could easily become a sugary, watered-down to the point of pointless, sappy love story (ie Snow Queen) but the producers know what they're doing and they don't even graze that line. Just when you think things are slowing down something happens and for that I'm grateful. I say watch the show. You won't be disappointed.

To be honest, I was really questioning my decision to watch this series by the end of the first episode. I was having real problems sympathizing with the protagonist, the plot hadn't really grabbed me, and I began wondering what else would be fun to watch instead of this show. But I'm really glad that I stuck with it.This series and others like it are why I try my darnedest to watch at least four episodes of any show before deciding whether to watch or drop. By the end of the second episode, I started warming up to the different characters. By the end of episode three, the story had really begun drawing me in. I think I was pretty well and truly hooked by the end of episode four.So if you find yourself feeling somewhat ambivalent about the show, I'd implore you to give it at least four episodes. I feel pretty confident that you'll end up watching the rest even if you don't love it.

This is a great drama and I would highly recommend. Great performances by Jung Woo Sung (whom I just discovered last week after watching "Moments To Remember") and the lady who's turning out to be one of the best kdrama mamas.....she was Hyun Bin mom in both "Samsoon" and "Worlds Within." Also excellent performance by Kim Bum. I initially stayed away from this drama because he was in it. I've never liked his stiff "flower boy," "model" performances in "Boys Over Flowers" and "Woman That Still Want To Marry." But, he does an excellent job here.......someone has had some acting lessons! Great story, wonderful location (does anybody know where this was filmed?). I always feel lucky when I come across a drama I didn't think I would like or get to see a performance from an actor I wasn't familiar with.....this drama fits that bill!

Yes, it's a little wacky. There's a little fantasy. There's a bit of the supernatural. There's a sprinkle of Groundhog Day on top.

But the story and characters are compelling and real.
And the acting is absolutely primo.You will giggle. You will laugh.
You will cry... especially during the last three episodes.You will love this show.
