They did release Macross uncut. they even got the Japanese voice for Minmei to do her english voice. But for legally released anime in the US its not hard at all to get both. 90% of the anime released in the US on dvd have been dual audio releases.

I personally like both. But Im picky about both. See dubs are good for people who can't or just simply don't like to read text while watching something. But for me they have to be good dubs like the films from Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli. They spend a lot of time and effort into making those dubs the best they can be, same for a lot of other anime movies and shows. As long as the dubbing is of a high quality I don't mind. I appreciate what the English speaking voice actors have done. But I have come across some poor dubs in the past so it can be hit or miss for me. As for subs? Well I like them (especially fan based subs) because you get info you might miss out on. I find that there can be a big difference between the two as far as what's said, how it's said, and the context of everything. Not to mention the cussing. Keep in mind that not all anime is for little kids, a lot is actually geared towards teenagers and adults. Anime does not mean your normal sat morning cartoons. With subs? Sometimes there some info left out too, sometimes you understand the characters better with subs because you get to know what the original writer and voice actor had originally intended. So anyways, neither are better than the other. I think it would be cool if we could choose but do you have any idea how hard it is to get both dubbed and subbed? Sometimes the companies don't agree and there's all kinds of red tape involved! I mean just look at what happened to Macross and Robotech. (Don't know? I suggest you look it up kids)

Give animation its proper due. Just because it's a "cartoon" doesn't mean it can't be art, or respected on the same level as Shakespearean plays. If you don't believe me check out Waltz with Bashir, one of the more powerful documentaries I've ever seen, and it's...yep...animated.

Very true, but you can't leave out the fact that a Director's main role is to direct the performance of the actors. In this case it would be the delivery of dialogue. How a person says something compared to what they say can make a big difference. By knocking out the director's original choice for actors and delivery of dailogue, one can knock out a very important element of the director's vision. So I guess the best way to be purist is to learn the language and watch it undubbed and unsubtitled ;)

Tags are user-generated labels related to this video or show that can help you discover related videos on Hulu. Check the tags you feel are most appropriate for this show or add your own (the number in parentheses indicates how many other users have used that tag.) To find other shows with similar tags, simply click on the tag that interests you most.
Tags are keywords or category labels that can help you and others find videos on Hulu. They also classify videos for later recall. You can tag videos yourself by simply checking the box next to a popular tag for a video or by using the "add" field to create a new tag. Click on any tag — "comedy" for example — to discover other videos similarly tagged by you or other users. Because tags are reviewed by Hulu, there may be a delay in surfacing your tags. The most relevant tags are sorted by category for the rest of Hulu to see. You may assign up to 30 tags for any video or show; to review all of your tags, see the Tags section on your profile page.
Your tags may be visible to other users on Hulu. You should not use:
Profane or obscene language
Tags that are inciting or spiteful
Tags that might harass, abuse or threaten members of the community
Tags that may reveal your personal information or any personal information about children under age 13
Tags that promote illegal or immoral conduct
Tags containing special characters or more than 50 characters
