One Day at a Time

For me it is looking at McKenzie Phillips and allegations of sexual abuse against her DEAD dad, does not pass my smell test, so for that I will not watch!!! Sad what people do for money, when they do not have any!!! Of course he is the blame for inability to act in the first place, but it will be tied to the sex and drug abuse!!!

Like many here, I was only a child when this was originally aired on T.V. I was 11 or 12 when this show first came on. Wow, where has this show been hiding all of these years? What strikes me about this show NOW, is how almost every word uttered is about SEX. Back in the 70's I was missing a great deal if the sexual references. The obvious stuff I understood, but now that I am a middle aged adult I see there were many many sexual references in this show that I never had a clue about when I was just a kid in the 70'sOh, this is wild, I had a long term girlfriend that looked EXACTLY like Bonnie Franklin in this show, and she was even the same age of her in the show. And just like the charter Bonnie Franklin played, my girlfriend was a single mother of two teens that almost drove her crazy trying to get them raised on a single $100 child support check from her husband who was on disability. Also alike was all of the DRAMA, the throwing the arms up and freaking over every little thing. I do not see Bonnie Franklin as overacting. I see her as potraying a woman under a lot of stress, 'much of it coming from MEN, and she is at almost her rope's end when it comes to men in general. No matter where she goes or how hard she tries to avoid it she has men acting like dogs in heat. Back in the 70's I knew she was stressed, but I did not catch on fully as to how the more adult humor was embedded in the remarks by so many guys in her life, it went right over my head. When I see shows like this one it reminds me of all the frustration between the sexes in hte 70's, and I can well remmember that being talked about in my home. Bonnie Franklin was acting like many real women I have meet. I would not advise dating a lady so stressed-out and frustrated though, believe me I have dated a couple that were almost exactly like Bonnie's character. Such relationships never had a happy ending for me due to all of the responsibilities of a single poor mother just trying to get by "One Day at A Time."I look forward to seeing the newer seasons that show the more mature and very attractive Valerie Bertanell, as I had a big crush on her as a teen (what boy did not?). When she married Eddie VanHalen I almost cried.... lol Oh well, one can always dream, eh?
