Description

Except for beauty queens and oil, Venezuela has never been on the international stage. Now Venezuela sits at the centre of international controversy: to some it has been stolen by a populist dictator, while for others Venezuela represents the centre of continent-wide democratic revolution. There is much at stake. Venezuela sits atop one of the biggest oil reserves in the world, which are being used to fuel a new order. President Hugo Chavez, who survived a military coup in 2002, has supported a number of controversial social programs that have pushed Venezuela onto the United States government, and media, enemy radar. What makes Venezuela tick and what has it done? Who is behind the movement and what does it seek? Filmed through the 2006 presidential elections, this is a film about the people building a new Venezuela.

This documentary needs to be shown on PBS, Discovery or History channel. It will give the people of the USA a more positive outlook as to what happens when a country takes care of their people instead of catering to a democratic capitalist & corporate system as they do now.
Bravo to the Venezuelan People and their leader for doing this all on their own.

This seems much like perceived progress... However, I wonder how much of that is due to their large oil reserves. Would their "socialist progress" survive without their black credit card?
