In 1642, John Amsterdam (Nikolaj Coster Waldau), then a Dutch soldier in the colony of New Amsterdam - later to become New York - stepped in front of a sword to save the life of a Native American girl during a massacre of her tribe. The girl in turn rescued Amsterdam, weaving an ancient spell that conferred immortality upon him. Amsterdam will not age until he finds his one true love. But Amsterdam has found this to be a mixed blessing. Over the course of three centuries, he has experienced endless adventure and honed his many talents. But everyone Amsterdam meets must leave him in time. Lovers and children die while he remains young. As the exhilaration of eternal life has given way to emotional isolation, Amsterdam discovers that the blessing has become a curse.
Totally worth your time. Haven't watched the last episode yet and understand people's bummer about it being canceled. However...If you honestly like Hulu, remember Netflix and Arrested Development. Support of these shows after being cancelled can end up bringing them back to life - thanks to online video. It's a new world and the networks are starting to know it. As apposed to when this aired, you DO get a say now.that said, I'm a Canadian who's had to suffer through supporting substandard production for a good story due to budget constraints. But the support only fuels budgets which begets better and more shows. This my friends, is the point of the interwebz. :)

The people who run these networks are idiots. Every last one of them. They killed Firefly, The Dresden Files, they butchered Stargate and then they ALL got canceled. The list of good shows that had alot of potential are endless. I haven't seen this one yet... I might watch it, but with so few episodes, I kind of feel like "why bother"

I just finished watching the pilot episode. This was on FOX, then that explains it. With all the crap copy-cat shows on, something original shows up and it gets hacked before it can really get off and going. This follows Firefly and Dresden as another original show that wasn't given a chance.

Just came across this show and have watched the first episode. Two thumbs up from me and now I see that it's cancelled. Maybe one of the smart networks like FX and TNT will consider it.
