Naoki Urasawa's Monster

Urasawa's Monster is one of the best animes I've ever seen. If you like action, suspense, and a slowly unraveling mystery with many twists and turns you'll love Monster. Some of the dialogue can be a bit stilted and there are some outright improbable parts, such as the ease with which Tenma obtains information from local people, especially when he's in the middle of nowhere in East Germany or the Czech Republic. Realistically, I don't think local people spill the beans that quickly to outsiders/foreigners.Still, you can argue that it is a cartoon and with a plot this thick it's easier for informants to willingly, naively offer up tons of information to help Tenma figure out who Johan Liebert really is.Without a doubt one of the most enthralling and interesting animes ever created.

im not sure about watching this. yes im a girl and i don't wanna know what would happen if something like this really could happen. my friends tell me to watch it. its a good show to watch so i can get into thrillers. i think i just might. but comparing to it Hitler its not that bad really. yes Hitler killed alot of people but compared to the guy in Russia who killed over billions of people, it shouldn't be that bad. so ill watch it and post another review after im done.

The plot pretty much follows a bell curve - starts off kinda ok, then gets pretty good, then ends around the same way it started (if not worst). There was just too much unnecessary crap in the storyline, and they could easily have made this show in half the amount of episodes. Also, they introduced too many characters that either should not have been introduced or did not have enough time to develop. They really should have just focused more on a few characters and have them develop more. The only reason I liked this series at first is because it sort of reminded me of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein but that ends up derailing. People say they like this show because of the realism, but honestly this becomes pretty far-fetched. As for "evil" nature of the villian, he really does not give that kind of vibe in this series by the end. I would say Hitler or the even the Joker from Batman are worst. IMO, they could have done much more with this series. Very disappointing. If you want a good dark anime, watch Deathnote.
