My First Place follows the journey of real-life first-time buyers through the trials of finding and financing their first place. Every episode offers useful nuggets for viewers who want the latest info on securing financing in a down market, plus proven know-how straight from real estate professionals! See a set of first-timers and their realtor along the stress-filled journey, including the exciting search for the perfect home, learning the pitfalls of financing, the best bidding strategies and how to survive the home inspection. Their journey ends in the emotional culmination of homeownership - or sometimes not. Inevitably there's a compromise to reach closing on a new home for the first time.
They do show places like this on some eps however I do agree with you they should show more. I am tired of seeing the purchasing a 5 -6 bedroom home and its a couple who dont have any kids.
This is such a great show, and they really do a good job of walking you through the buying experience. The only problem is that I've seen all of the episodes on hulu... Please add more, at least seasons 1-8.
I popped this show on one day for background noise and quickly found myself staring in disbelief. When you read that a show is about first-time home buyers, you expect to see a couple (often young) or a single working man or woman viewing reasonably priced homes. That is NOT what this show is about. This show seems to be about people buying $200,000 - $300,000 homes right out of the gate, and often with little to no money to put down. I have no problem with seeing home buyers with that kind of money, but what about the little guys? Why is no one on a budget of, say, $125,000 or less? Show some smaller cities if you have to! Literally all you see are these giant, fancy houses in prime real estate locations with amenities coming out of their ears. Or worse, you see someone dropping hundreds of thousands of dollars on a townhouse or condo, which is basically just a glorified apartment. If you're looking for something to really reflect a first-time home purchase, I suggest watching something like Hidden Potential instead. Often times they aren't first-time home buyers, but you can at least get a real sense of the type of house you can get your first time around. And you can see ideas for future work, too! This show would have been much more interesting if they mixed it up a little. Show a single man or woman finding a tiny, inexpensive first home, or a young couple trying to find a decent-size house on a realistic budget. Show a broad spectrum of buyers, not just people buying houses that cost 3-4 times what they make in a year.
I only see one out of all of the episodes. And, of course, the one is an upper-middle class attorney who can spend $35k on renovations alone. I'm a key demo, so cater to what I want or your shows will continue to be short-lived. Vary the people: old, young, too many kids, 2.5 kids, single, gay couples, bachelors, and...well, you're the show. I'm just a writer and consumer.
Tags are user-generated labels related to this video or show that can help you discover related videos on Hulu. Check the tags you feel are most appropriate for this show or add your own (the number in parentheses indicates how many other users have used that tag.) To find other shows with similar tags, simply click on the tag that interests you most.
Tags are keywords or category labels that can help you and others find videos on Hulu. They also classify videos for later recall. You can tag videos yourself by simply checking the box next to a popular tag for a video or by using the "add" field to create a new tag. Click on any tag — "comedy" for example — to discover other videos similarly tagged by you or other users. Because tags are reviewed by Hulu, there may be a delay in surfacing your tags.
