In the beginning, there is a claim that manga is uniting the world. I call b.s. Some other ridiculous, false claims:
Action vs. Fantasy Excuse:
~oh, because doctors, lawyers and businessmen read manga on the bus every morning, manga is obviously perfectly safe and sane. Ridiculous!
~oh, by indulging in the fantasy, the grown men are merely acting out longing for their absent fathers and the overwhelming role of their mothers in their lives as a result making interaction with real women difficult. They need to work on their issues and love REAL WOMEN. How about some of that to bring the world together! Sheesh!
Japan is an "idol culture" Excuse:
~okay, so that makes worship of fetishized infant icons alright? NO!
Japan has a long history of artistic erotic depictions, and manga is a natural extension of that noble art:
~Ummm, the women shown in the old artwork are WOMEN, not little girls and boys.
Japan is a shame culture, so manga artists depict erotic manga characters in shame rather than ecstasy:
~Why not work on that obvious social problem? Try to remove the shame from sex, and maybe you will have less manga otakus fantasizing about child rape!
Japan's manga otakus are obsessed with "cuteness" ~Umm, let's be a little more honest here: the obsession is with PEDOPHILIA.
The Japanese word "moe" can mean many things Excuse:
~And which of those many meanings do you believe are intended when expressed while looking at children with their legs spread, underwear showing, and shame on their faces?
Maybe it is true that the Japanese are able, as is claimed in the film, to "restrain" themselves from acting on such perverse fantasy. Then, why push manga to be some force to unite the world?
I see through the mask.
Hopefully more will after seeing this movie, as well.
Thank you for this film.
