Legend of the Seeker

Speaking as a 22 year-old who read the first three books in a week and a half this summer, they are definitely not written for young kids. I'd say teenagers maybe, but even that might be a bit young (if they had gone movies instead of TV series, they'd all be PG-13 or R, I think). They're actually very interesting characters, with a lot of development (except for Zedd, but hey, he's a Wizard of the First Order), facing tough situations with what seems to be no right answer, and much is peppered with deep emotional disturbance (parts of the first two books are downright heartbreaking).   See 17 other replies

OK, so ALL of you should go check out Terry Goodkind, the author of the books that this show is based on. They are about politics but it is not a matter or Democrats or Republicans. It's actually based on the ideas of Ayn Rand. While I think Ayn Rand is a little too idealistic in her commentaries, the books Terry Goodkind wrote take her ideas and ground them in reality (kinda neat given he sets the story in a fantasy world). The person who said it's about Socialism vs Independents was the closest to accurate. The entire point of the series is that working for yourself, taking pride in your work and striving for a better life while being kind to others and helping when you can but not to the harm of your own life is how to best live.
