Last Exile

The animation and designs were pretty good for the most part, but I didn't like the CGI that much. I especially didn't like the CGI design for the "last exile". I also didn't like the plot very much. A lot of things seemed random or poorly motivated. But the production values are great, and the world is creative. I really expected to enjoy this anime more than I did, but I can't bring myself to give it less than 4 stars.On a side note, I don't understand why this anime has such glowing reviews while Xam'd, another anime with similar strengths and weaknesses, has such mixed reviews. Maybe people prefer steampunk stylistically over bioengineering? I don't know, but structurally the two shows seem pretty similar to me. For what it's worth, I actually enjoyed Xam'd more, and I'm not entirely sure why.

Ok what happened the whole season used to be on here ? now there are only the first four hulu needs to tell us why stuff like this is happing

...that pretty much says it all. Yes, it suffers on occasion from the "big eyes, overblown facial expressions, and weird hairdos" that seemingly all anime unfortunately has. And there were a couple of spots where I found the dialog to be just...weird....but, it is a very original concept and storyline and I did enjoy it. It just would have been better without the typical anime "hallmarks" mentioned above. This would have made a great CG animated, or even live action series.So if you are an anime fan, I am betting you will like this a lot. And if you aren't, it is still worth checking out, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I loved this series. The primary reason why I loved this one was because of the character design. The characters look almost alive, which I believe is what Range Murata wanted people to feel. The story was perfect. The music was stellar. I just loved this series.
