While a timid housewife has sacrificed her independence for a domestic life, her husband begins an affair with a brash TV reporter. The two woman become friends in an aerobics class. Only after the husband dies does the wife discover the affair.

Of course the film had to have the over the top daytime soap opera ending and swerves here and there but I was pleasantly surprised with a few things in this film. The first being how it managed to maintain a bit of humor. I also liked how it captured the awkwardness and coldness of the relationship between the two friends after the wife found out about the affair. I thought Waterston did a great job in this role that seemed tailor made for him. Overall, a bit soapy but worth 2 hours for sure.
