Back in 1990, a UK satellite TV company supposedly earmarked £6 million for this series. Seems outrageous until you realize that they made -150- of these episodes, of which we only have a few on Hulu. That means that it was made for the about the same money per episode (not adjusted for inflation) as the original Star Trek, done over 20 years earlier . It's definitely a soap opera with the usual love struggles of the students but often rises to the science fiction setting of a "space university" orbiting Jupiter. There's quite a few faces that later went on to other things.
Plus everyone is wearing those wild late 1980s hairstyles — this was before grunge hit the UK.
I have no idea what age group this was targeted at but it's wildly addictive. Fans of classic SF TV shows should find it familiar in places.
