no, that's really dumb. actors fake stuff all the time, it's kind of their job. i like authenticity, and taking a few drags isn't going to give you cancer, but smoking is generaly not the most important part of a performance See 2 other replies

Agreed. If your not willing to die of cancer you shouldn't take the role. Creating authenticity for a film is way more important than your health. Also they should of really shot DeVito at the end. When you die you **** yourself. When they picked him up he shoulda had **** on his slacks.

This is a great movie, interesting story and excellent acting. The only thing that bothers me is Robert Proskys' performance as Billy Flynn. I'm assuming that in real life he was a non-smoker (due to his lack of inhaling cig smoke) which is fine, but when you accept a role that requires smoking, I feel that you should either bite the bullet and inhale or turn down the role. I think it looked very silly in the scene in the truck right before he gets burned up when he takes a big drag and blows it right out as if it were a cigar.
