Connecting to Hulu with your Pay-TV Provider
Summary
Select content providers have decided to enable even quicker access to catch-up episodes of current shows to viewers who have subscribed to a participating pay-TV service.

Below you will find the answers to several common questions regarding the availability of current season shows from FOX, NBCUniversal, ABC and FX. These particular content providers have decided to enable even quicker access to catch-up episodes of current shows to viewers who have subscribed to a participating pay-TV service. By authenticating your Hulu.com account with one of these pay-TV services, eligible subscribers will now be able to watch episodes for several shows online, on PCs, the day after they air.

If you have a question that is not answered below, please feel free to contact our support team, who will be more than happy to help.

Why are these episodes locked?

The locked episodes you're encountering are currently available to stream for participating pay-TV subscribers. If you do have a participating pay-TV account, you can authenticate your subscription by visiting (hulu.com/authenticate) and selecting your provider from the Search For Your Provider section.

If you do not have a pay-TV account to connect with, most shows will be available after a certain delay. For specific show information, more details can be found under the Availability Notes at a show's page (e.x. hulu.com/warehouse-13).

What is authentication?

Authentication is a way viewers can confirm that they are currently subscribed to a participating pay-TV service in order to get quicker access to new content. Some networks are currently allowing next-day, on-demand access to their content to viewers who are authenticated pay-TV subscribers. Viewers who are not able to authenticate will be able to access most episodes after a limited delay.

How can I see if my provider is on the list?

To see if your specific pay-TV service is one of the participating providers, please visit (hulu.com/authenticate) to search for your provider. Here you can also connect to your provider to access next-day content for certain shows. If your provider is not on the list, you won't be able to view next-day content through authentication. That said, most episodes will be available for unauthenticated Hulu.com users after a limited delay.

I've connected my pay-TV account, but still can't watch certain shows.

If you've already connected your pay-TV account, and can see that it's active on your Account page (hulu.com/account), it's possible that the specific show you're trying to watch is not a part of your connected pay-TV package. Some supported cable and satellite TV subscriptions do not include the rights to view content from all FOX, ABC, FX and NBCU networks.

Unfortunately, we do not have a way to confirm whether a specific cable subscription is eligible for this content, and we recommend contacting the provider's customer support directly.

I don't have a pay-TV subscription, when can I see episodes?

If you don't have access to a pay-TV subscription, you can still access most episodes of your favorite shows after a limited amount of time. Because this time frame varies for each provider and even for each show, the best source for availability is right from a show's main page (e.x. hulu.com/psych). Under the main promotional image, you will see the availability for non-authenticated users.

I'm paying for Hulu Plus, but still don't have access to episodes.

It's important to note that not all shows on Hulu.com are a part of Hulu Plus – A good example of this is Psych. Please visit this help article for more information about Hulu Plus content.

While these locked episodes are available sooner for participating pay-TV accounts, many of these shows were previously only on a 30-day delay for free, unauthenticated online distribution, so not much has changed in that regard. Most episodes will still be available on Hulu.com after a limited delay.

To qualify for next-day viewing for certain FOX, FX, ABC and NBCU content, you must be an authenticated subscriber from a supported pay-TV provider. To see if your current pay-TV provider supports authentication, please visit (hulu.com/authenticate) for a complete list. Additionally, these shows are available on desktop only, and are not available through Hulu Plus enabled devices.

Why are these episodes in my Queue?

If you've added a show to your Favorites that requires pay-TV access for next-day viewing, these episodes will appear in your Queue when they are added to the site. If you have a pay-TV subscription, then you will be able to use your credentials and watch immediately. Otherwise, most episodes will be available after the specified delay.
