Troubleshooting Hulu Plus in Windows 8
Summary
Because of the varying number of hardware and software combinations that exist, you may encounter an error when using the Windows 8 Hulu Plus application.

Below are some possible scenarios and helpful tips to resolve these errors.

What is the PB3 error I'm seeing?

This error is caused by not having the video and/or audio drivers needed for our application. Having a Microsoft signed driver ensures the security of both our users and our content. To resolve this error, perform a Windows System Update to make sure you're running the most up-to-date drivers on your device. If your system is up to date and the error still occurs, you may need to manually check your video or audio card driver for updates. To find what type of video card your computer is running, from the Start screen, swipe down to locate the Control Panel app. Then head to System and Security > System > Device Manager > Display Adapters > Double click on your driver > Driver tab > Update Driver. If this doesn’t work, try checking your driver manufacturer’s site for an update (For AMD ( support.amd.com ) and for Nvidia ( www.nvidia.com/support)).

What is the PB4 error I'm seeing?

This error could be caused by a few different reasons such as not having the most up-to-date drivers or running Windows 8 through a virtual machine, such as VMware or Parallels. Additionally, if you are using this device through a partitioned computer such as a Macbook, you will likely encounter this issue. For the best Hulu Plus experience, make sure your device is compliant with Windows 8 System Requirements. Please visit here for more help.

Using Hulu Plus through a Virtual Machine like VMware or Paralleles

Because our application requires the proper Microsoft signed drivers, using the Hulu Plus application through a Virtual Machine may not run as expected. For the best Hulu Plus experience, please make sure you are running the necessary System Requirements, most importantly, the correct graphics card for Windows 8.

Why can't I hear anything while playing a video?

This issue may be caused by not having the proper audio driver for Windows 8. Having a Microsoft signed driver ensures the security of both our users and our content. To resolve this error, run a Windows System update to make sure you're running the most up-to-date drivers on your device. If your system is up to date and the sound issue still occurs, you may need to manually check your sound card driver for updates. To locate and update your driver, first swipe down from the Start screen to locate the Control Panel app and select it. Then head to System and Security > System > Device Manager > Sound, video and game controllers > Double click on your driver > Driver tab > Update Driver. Do note that laptops and tablets don't typically have sound cards. Instead, they have integrated sound processors, which appear in the same category in Device Manager. For additional information, visit Microsoft's Support article.
