Instead of relating Casey Anderson to the young Timothy Treadwell who died in Glacier N.P.'s vast wilderness as a result of his interactions with bears, why not focus on the positives that Mr. Anderson is doing for the Grizzly Community?
The study and restoration of an endangered species is always difficult work. Whether dealing with the bureaucracy of government, with vested agricultural interests or fretful parents, it is certainly a daunting task. Shadow Mountain is an excellent read that documents the struggle for controlled wolf restoration in Yellowstone N.P.
Anderson's work is crucial to helping restore the integrity of ecosystems lost in the years since white settlers appeared. It is obvious to many if not all of us that each member of the biotic community is intertwined, but to what extent is always somewhat of an uncertainty, which is exactly why Anderson's work is so vital. Researchers are just now coming to scientific conclusions that shrub and forest growth has been dramatically reduced in the last century due to the wolves near total disappearance, wolves don't eat shrubs; there is always more to learn.
As the worlds 1st national park, Yellowstone set, and maintains the precedent for wilderness protection. The work of Mr. Anderson's, Mrs. Askins and all those who came before and will come after needs their importance underscored. We as a nation, as stewards of this great land need to look to the future and it is an honor to be able to be given such privileged access to the Grizzly community.
Thanks for reading, if you made it of course.
TLDR: Think of the Positives
