BASED ON A TRUE STORY...sort of. Fact: Ed Gein was a killer. Fact: Ed Gein lived in Wisconsin. Fact: Ed did some really freaky stuff. That's about all of the facts that this "film" got right. First off, the guy playing Gein is too young and way too muscular! He looks nothing like Ed Gein at all! No insight into Gein's genuinely disturbing psyche! The deputy sherriff and sexpot sherriff's daughter was a totally incipid romantic "plot device". Although, I believe the actress plays on one of my girlfriend's fave soaps. It was sort of good to see Priscilla Barnes in something besides reruns of "Three's Company". But why a white, middle aged, 1950's Wisconsin homemaker/hardware store owner would be listening to Robert Johnson's 1936 recording of "Love In Vain" is completely beyond me. Unless in this alternate universe, Wisconsin is the home of the Delta Blues.

pretty bad when the only guy that can act is the psycho. but the story was totally made up yes ed gein was a killer and skinned corpses and live victems, but the way its portrayed here is absolutly make believe. based on bad acting and a made up script, disclaimer should say.

Disturbing....

What a load of crap. Worst take on any serial killer I have EVER seen. Should be listed under "so bad not even funny". That deputy is the dumbest person I have ever seen in any movie. Holy crap this movie makes me want cut my own head off to forget about it!

Just another B horror movie... Poor acting and poorly directed.

I liked this movie, then again, it was good enough to pass the time here at work working second shift. And by the way, the dude that helps 'ed' dig the woman up at the first of the movie, isn't that the dude from the Motley Crue video "Smoking in the boys room"?

"In the Light of the Moon"
The guy playing Ed looks very similar to him!
Look it up on youtube, it's in parts, but totally worth it.

To think this is the best they could do. Directors have been able to come up with things like Leather face, Normal Bates, Buffalo Bill with the information available about Ed Gein and this is what these guys have. Yes I can see some references to his life but other than a few flashes to childhood there was nothing to show why he is the way he is. He had no friends and yet you created a friend that helped him rob the graves? Gein admitted to shooting Mary Hogan, the tavern owner, why did you have him choke her? This is sad, you could have joined the ranks of the classics of Psycho, Silence of the Lambs and Texas Chainsaw Massacre instead you created a flop. Cant give it a zero so I have to give 1 star.
