"DOG" the bounty hunter is a horrid interpretation of the actual Bail Bonds/Recovery industry. The majority of the things he does on this show would never actually work in most states.
"Dog" cant even legally operate in most states due to the fact he is a convicted felon. For instance in Colorado, he is not legal, his company name is under his wife's and he isn't allowed to put handcuffs on ANYONE, and if he did, he would be arrested himself.
Because of his "STAR" status on A&E, there are a lot of Bondsman that will dispatch their recovery agents, and once the fugitive is found, they wil then send out "The Dog" to collect the person, and the original agent that did the work no longer gets paid.
What a joke! This man is the reason why there is so much BAD views on the bail industry. People watch this show, and do very little research on the industry, think taking some random "Bail Enforcement" Class and reviewing the 1873 U.S. Supreme Court case Taylor v. Taintor, 16 Wall (83 U.S. 366, 21 L.Ed. 287) they all of a sudden think that it is legal to run around, collect fugitives on the words of a bondsman and get paid lots of money.
Recovery is far from glorious, and you rarely make decent money as it solely depends on a case by case basis.
