also, 99999999, all those things you mentioned don't need to happen, we don't have to use pesticides, we don't have to use trees for pulp, we just have to have fewer people so that we don't need to use so much we can't make it renewable, so in a sense you're right, but only because we don't all understand how much harder it gets to support exponentially increasing populations, not having so many people would make our land use so much more efficient   See 13 other replies

ok way too much stuff in this post i want to respond to, but i don't want to waste the time,
all im gonna say is:
1. man being a part of nature is moot, we have the ability to understand what our impact is on the world, we should use that to PRESERVE our species, not deplete the earth of resources, especially when those resources are habitats for other living beings, some of which might be vital to that ecosystem, and hence vital to ours.
2. the fact that people do things like chain themselves to trees or hold signs or ANYTHING,it's not because they're insane, it's to draw attention to your cause, people who don't know what you're trying to say won't hear you unless they NOTICE you first
3. Hippys laugh at hippy jokes, i should know, I am one. I'm not going to laugh at jokes that make fun of religious people, and then say you can't make fun of some of the things people do when i happen to agree with their motive.

Just to be devil's advocate - Man is part of nature, therefore it is only in acting against our natural tendencies that we disrupt nature. Maybe pollution is the next step in evolution.
