Destination Truth

Honestly, I like it because it gives me a chance to hear about some more obscure cryptozoological creatures and myths about with them, as well as see the habitat they're associated with in close detail. Maybe that's only interesting if you're a giant biology nerd, though... Also, people from other cultures don't need/want to be treated like china dolls. I think it's much better that he's treating everyone with the same good humor, rather than romanticizing certain cultures to the point of annoyance. (i.e., I enjoy "Maverick" far more than "Dances with Wolves" due to their portayal of Indians as human beings, rather than paragons of nobility.) I mean, come on. It's not like dried yogurt is a cornerstone of Mongolian faith. A rickity airplane isn't the pinnacle of Romanian technology. Balud isn't the basis for Filipino civilization. Mostly, everyone just gets a good laugh at Josh's expense, including the natives of whatever region he's in. And it doesn't hurt that Josh is a sexy beast, despite his Kermit-esque vocal qualities. ;)   See 20 other replies

Here's the thing - they know full well they won't find a yeti, or werewolf, or elf, or whatever. But, it is an entertaining show, not to be taken too seriously. I believe that's why the jokes fly, and the "investigations" aren't intricate. They are simply debunking myths other cultures believe, and having a little fun at the same time. If you like adventure, you'd probably like the show, if not, keep the remote handy.   See 20 other replies
