Dark Shadows

I remember when this first aired in January of 1991. The first three episodes were shown on consecutive nights as a mini-series, the rest being shown as a weekly TV show. Unfortunately, the Gulf War was on and some of the episodes were rescheduled. This made it very difficult to keep up with. I missed two of the episodes and had to rely on a friend who had taped them. Almost everyone who I knew who was excited about this show lost interest because of missed episodes, and as a result, found the story too confusing. I think this is the main reason it was cancelled. I believe it would have continued for at least one more season had this not happened.
As a great fan of the original, I really enjoyed how true this version remained. The cliffhanger was great also! I was truly disappointed that it was cancelled.
