Description

During the Chosun Dynasty, Chae-Ohk finds herself enduring the lowly status of a Damo, a low ranking police officer. Despite being separated from her father and brother at a young age, she grows up to be a high skilled swordsman and police officer. All thanks to the kind and generous Hwangbo Yoon. The star crossed lovers are not only faced with obstacles of class differences, but a charismatic rebel swoops in between the two causing both heartache and jealousy. As the three face off against one another, the history of the three people reveal to be much more complicated than anyone could have imagined.

I just saw this over news year weekend & I LOVED IT!!! Yes, bamboo scene same as Crouching Tiger, but so what. How many movies have similar scenes to other movies. I lost count. Like Series said... RIVETING!!! Had many favorite scenes in all the episodes. I'm watching it for 5th time. I'll start on Chuno later and provide my take on it.

regardless of other's opinions whose expectations were dashed and have b***ched for no reason, i find this series fairly good if you give it a chance. it takes a while before everything unfolds and as with every tv show before this, you have to take it all in it's totality before making judgement.

Yes, the action scenes were too similar to Crouching Tiger, even right down to the Bamboo forest scene!! Personally, I think the other historical dramas were better written, for example Queen Seon Seok, Chuno, and Jumong, which I have seen. I will give this one a 3-star.

That's because Damo was made in 2003 and Chuno was made in 2010. Just to give you a sense of how long ago that is, Damo was literally the second drama in South Korean history to be shot in HD.

Besides, in terms of story and acting, Damo is far superior to Chuno.

I have no w finished the entire series, and only one word comes to mind: riveting. Since I am Asian, this and other movies like it resonate with me. I enjoy the "period" ones rather than the modern ones, it gives the viewer a sense of the history, not only of a culture, but of how and why the Asian perspective differs from the rest of the world. The acting was superb, the characters were always believeable, directing and shooting it was excellent. I have heard others compare this to Chuno, which I have also watched, and both series were excellent in their own right. Kamsahamnida to Hulu for this, I look forward to seeing more.

i thought it was better then some I've seen . Story was good ,action was good, the actors were vets and I bet the home land viewers enjoyed it too. Smiths a bit short sighted,like most un informed crits left before the popcorn was served

I've watched all 14 episodes. And yes, the action scenes may be rather cheesy. However, the bloodiness looks convincing. Moreover, it has a pretty decent storyline. Each episode ends on a cliffhanger making one want to watch the next right away...just to see what happens.
