This film was originally released in 3D. THAT'S why their are lingering shots of impailed victims- I kept thinking- what more can we see here?? Cut and print.
Then of course Kinski's performance kept me watching. He is my kind of mad man. He looks kinda like Max Shreck..from Nosferatu. When he didn't speak I kept waiting for his next words....I was interested in his character...omg ( I thought) How much lower can he go as he spirals out of control into a psychotic state! The vampire reference was funny cause I thought he seemed vampire-ish. I did not need to see the naked girls- but I am sure there was some reason why they were there- for the men. Thanks Hulu. |

Entertaining for all its oddities. And VERY spoofable... Klaus Kinski plays one very strange dude.

First off I had heard for years that Klaus Kinski was as strange as they come, and this movie brought out the best(?) in him. The best actresses (Talia Balsam, and the woman in the cage) really held their own up against our strange Mr Gunther. Have to admit Mr Gunther showed a lot of brilliance in his knowledge of mechanics, especially the time period we were supposed to be in. Where the script might have been a tad weak, the director pulled this whole thing off. This is a great at home date movie,...scare the bejeezus out of you, and the weirdness of the whole film. I wouldn't mind seeing this again, would probably see things I missed in the first viewing.Strange, odd, peculiar, weird, off the wall,....they hit all definitions in this flick,....and then of course the VERY weirdness of Klaus Kinski.
He creeped me out,......
