Seriously, is this the way everyone feels? (reviews of s22e13)
First off, prostitution is not illegal because of STD's, prostitution is illegal because in 90% of the scenarios the prostitutes are hooked by some highly addictive substance which they are forced to pay for through prostitution, and because of the nature of the substance and the illegality to begin with, the pimps who keep them hooked usually get away with abusing them since they know the girls will never leave.
In this episode drugs were involved in all but the case where the girl obviously had some pre-existing mental issue. And you know what, she was honest, and because of that the cops treated her civilly and they simply arrested her again as is their duty, to get her off the street and HOPE she doesn't immediately return when she is likely released after a single overnight.
Finally, people who keep saying "Don't say anything", sometimes you're right, sometimes that will help the GUILTY person who has been stopped. Sometimes it will make them do more time as if there is evidence for warrant they could find far more to charge you on, where as if the told the truth of what they were doing then, they would usually get the minimum punishment for that exact crime with no further investigation.
Cops appreciate honest people, it saves time and energy.
Most criminals got in to these situations because of a mix of ignorance and stupidity, most go back in for the same reasons. If they use someone's own lack of knowledge to get them to confess to a crime they ARE guilty of, I don't see a problem.
It is very rare that the cop is in the wrong, at least when they are being filmed and it makes the final edit.
/Rant.
