Thank you very much for the enlightenment. I also wish that we had these type of dramas in the U.S. My twelve year old watches with me every now and then, and I don't have to be uneasy worrying about nudity and such. Thanks again!   See 4 other replies

I understand your confusion!! Asian television is structured differently. There are two types the complete and the open ended. Dramas are a complete story. They generally have 16-25 episodes. They are structured with a beginning and end , like a novel or movie. The viewer gets the benefit of knowing the entirety of the characters story as the writer and director intend. The most similar type of show to the drama here in America is a mini-series. Although a mini-series is usually only 4-5 episodes.
The open-ended are the on-going series, these Asian series, like sitcoms here in America are called daily dramas. They continue beyond a season. Those shows have continual episodes aired as long as the ratings permit, not unlike American television.
I prefer the complete dramas. It is a more natural and complete story. I wish we had drams like these in america!
They should have a more descriptive name though so it is easier to differentiate. Rather than dramas as all of their shows are called dramas, regardless of category or length like romance historical. The daily dramas can have over 100 episodes each episode can be anywhere from 20-60 minutes long. It can be confusing which shows are in what category. Especially because Hulu groups all shows according to seasons. Hulu should separate the complete shows and another category for the open-ended series with seasons. This may help: If there are more than 30 episodes: it is likely a daily series. If it has less than 30 episodes, usually 16-25- each an hour long, it is a complete show. They are really mini-series rather like in the US where a show runs season after season. I've seen some of the dramas go for 50 episodes but that's the most I've seen. And really the only sequel I'm aware of is Return of Iljimae. There may be others and I just haven't gotten to them yet. I agree with you about loving the dramas yet being vexed by them at the same time and still get hooked! Coffee Prince really left me wanting more it was so fantastic but very dissatisfied with how the last episode ended.   See 4 other replies

"49 Days." Yeah, its amazing. I loved it. But its so so sad.
Secret Garden, also, is great. Loved it.
