Cock'd Gunns

Both shows are mocumentaries about musicians. That's about as far as the comparison can go. The antagonists are completely different for each show, and the plot lines are going in two different directions. Spinal Tap is an aging, once successful, "Heavy Metal" band trying to revive their glory days. Many jokes were framed around their aging, past celebrity, and the pathetic nostalgia they seemed lost in. There was also a good deal at poking fun at the Heavy Metal genre, and the Lord of the Rings/ Dungeon nerds that were obsessed with it as well.
The guys from Cocked Gunns have not yet basked in the limelight yet, in fact, the drummer cant even play yet... which hints to what the humor is really revolving around... wanna be hipsters!One thing they do have in common is rampant insecurity from all the parties involved...which is hilarious and incredibly realistic in the music world... insecure geniuses run amok. There are some similarities and a few crossover jokes. Both shows are really funny, especially to musicians who can laugh at themselves, but they are at opposite ends of the spectrum in most ways, and the Spinal Tap comparison is a little lazy.
