Cinderella's Sister

This was the first drama I had seen with MGY in a leading role and it raised my expectations of her in other roles. Her portrayal of a tortured step-sister was very moving and relatable, if overwrought sometimes. The writers spent a lot of time on character development at the cost of plot, but for good reason; because by the end of the drama you are sorry to part with characters you have come to feel you know. Everyone knows the cinderella story but this drama asks: what made the characters that way?

If you are a fan of the typical romantic Kdramas, this may not be for you. But, if you enjoy dramas that explore different types of love (from familial to platonic to romantic), different themes (like forgiveness, redemption, ambition, etc), and if you don't mind a slower pace, then try this melodrama. It will be worth your time. You may also enjoy Say You Love Me and Snow Queen.

Also enjoyed the rice wine making and the Dramatic Yeast Search. So I would say if you like K-dramas that center not on romantic love but on other things family hate! betrayal! hostile takeovers! then this is a good choice. Just don't expect it to be all action; it's quite drawn out. I would say it's 6 episodes too long. I suspect this is because the characters prefer to run after people (usually in heels) when they have a perfectly good car at their disposal. Great acting all around, but I hated the screaming. Props for being different- using some Spanish, not having one of the characters be insanely rich, and being in the countryside instead of the big city like these usually are.

Just finished. Random thoughts: It started out interesting, then got hateful, then repetitive. The romance was very, very weak and the final drama bit in the last 2 episodes was WAY too contrived. BUT...BUT... for a Korean drama, it has very strong female characters. I say for a K-drama, because we all know in this fantasy world overworked women will always end up hospitalized or something equally dramatic... as an example a woman piggybacks another woman! (K-drama veterans will understand what I mean.)

Best show i've EVER watched ! <3 i was SO upset when it was over :o I litterally wannted to cry . Best thing i've watched in my life <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 Cant find anything like it .
Eun Jo + Hi Koon <3

I think this review is pretty much on target. The character Eun Jo takes the alienated teen routine way too far. OK, her mother is soulless emotional abuser, but there are too many kindnesses extended to her by her stepfather, Ki Hoon, and Jeung Woo for an intelligent person not to experience some doubts about her previous cynicism. Real kids respond better to less frequent and less dramatic kindness, and the few who don't turn into incorrigible hard cases. ------ Hyo Seon, on the other hand, is an emo, self-absorbed, clinging to her pre-teen level of emotional development and her emotional manipulativeness. The whole thing was really tiresome in many parts, but I kept watching, because my expectations for these Korean shows had been raised by My Lovely Sam Soon, Pasta, and What's Up,.Fox?. By the end of this one, I's come to think that the three main female characters didn't DESERVE happy endings, because they'd caused so much more misery than they'd suffered,
