First, most of the "celebrities" are people I've never even heard of. I like that they tell their stories themselves, and the recreation is over them telling it. But the recreations I don't like. It's always presented in a horror movie way, even if the story the celebrity is telling isn't scary or dark, even if it's an uplifting story, they still present it as though it's dark and creepy. Like Taylor Hicks talking about this beautiful female ghost that seemed stoic and kindly. He described her as someone he thinks is his guardian angel, and helped him, yet the recreation portrays her as an old lady with black demonic eyes as shrill music cues play and shadows envelop her. It's nothing like how he described. On top of that, the recreations are often just strange still shots interspersed with little bits of stop motion video presented in a discordian way. And then they do GOTCHA scares by flashing a quick creepy image and an orchestra hit. It's cheap, jarring and unnecessary B horror movie tactics that make it unpleasant to watch, and not for the right reasons. They could learn a thing or two from Kubrick's The Shining. If they only got someone else to do the recreations I might of given it 3 out of 5 rather than 2 out of 5 stars. Otherwise, it's just campfire ghost stories told by show business people, in other words people who aren't exactly the brightest and most sensible people in the world.
