Buck Rogers

I like the show a lot but I really prefer the first season over the second. The first season had a feel like Earth was rebuilding and Buck Rodgers was the person to protect it from harm. When I saw the first episode of the second season, I wondered if I was watching the same show. It was like the original writers were all fired and they started using leftover episodes of Battlestar Galactica. If there had been some more transition to it it might have worked better. They also could have tried to explain a few of the other changes such as Twiki's voice. Even Knight Rider put in a 5 second explaination of KITT's new voice synthesizer when they went from the red square to the three lines. Maybe someday they'll do a remake.

I liked this show. I grew up with this show. I even owned the toys. As I got older, the show made me laugh more then anything. The reasons are numerous. They very rarely shot new external scenes. Every “Ship” launching, fighting, or simply flying is the same shot again and again, no matter which episode you watch. One minute you see “A’ ship, next it is “B” ship. It becomes way too funny after a while. As an example, they are suppose to be sitting next to each other in a dual person cockpit, however the “exterior” shot is of either a different type of ship or a single person craft. You could almost make a drinking game out of it.Also, the use of props from other sci-fi shows is too cute. You can see the same items large and small on both Battlestar Galactica and Buck Rogers, and sometimes you can even see the same items in a few shows that are being aired today. Talking about trying to save a Buck… (Pun intended)Overall, it is a cute family show that really is just that. However, I am sure there is a spin doctor of sorts pitching a remake to some executive as I write this post. I am also guessing Darker, Grittier, DRAMA are the keywords being used in the pitch. I am sure it will be aired on NBC’s Sci-Fi network then be canceled a few weeks later to make room for more repeats of drivel. :o)
