@kiah, thanks for the overview...i was going to over look this anime and look for another to get into but you have sparked my interest...let you know what i think when i finish (if I do) (or dont)...thanks for writing up a good subjective view:)

I spent the first 7 episodes waiting for Train (the real one) to make an appearance. I got so bored of his brooding, not at all like the Train I'm getting to know in the manga. The anime is cute and I LOVE Train's eyes, but so far I'm not impressed with the plot. And Creed, yikes, could seriously do without his Train issues. See 5 other replies

You do lose a lot in translation by watching the Japanese shows dubbed. I started that way but figured out pretty fast that the Japanese voices were far superior to the English ones. But, whatever floats your boat, I guess. So long as people keep putting subs on them for those who prefer the Japanese, it's all good. See 1 other reply

This was a pretty good show! It taught me a lot. Such as what true friendship is, that you should follow your heart, people can change, reach for your dreams, about freedom, how to care for others,how to protect the people that you care about, to stand up for what you think is right, believe in yourself, to depend on others and just to live life. This show has great characters and a great story behind it.
Filled with action, suspense,plot twists, and a bunch of other great qualities! : ) I have watched this show again and again.

the show wasn't horrible or bad but it wasn't great either. good action, and concepts were kinda cool, but the main character just turns out all wrong, goes from awesome to lame for most part of the season. He just never get back what he had at the start of the show...

This anime start off awesome. Very serious dark and in the 4th episode (i think) really really has a very moving and heartbreaking twist. It hurts that after that episode the show completely does a 360. No more dark serious. Now its funny kid like anime. I had a what the heck is this moment. Kept watching thinking maybe this was a filler episode and they were trying to take a break from the heavy hit in the last episode.... nope. They must have gotten a new director or something.

I kept watching to the end hoping for a return to the show that i first saw. Only to be sorely disappointed. He never regains his ultra cool factor. Its not that his determination not to return to who he was is disappointing, its that he changes into a completely different character. Watch the beginning skip the rest. IF you like it i recommend darker than black

This is the way to go. Have dubbed version so that people who do not understand Japanese can watch the show. But, also have subbed version for the fans that prefer that. I have no issue with the dubbed - the voices seem to match the characters, the story is a lot clearer and you can understand what is being said without squinting at the tiny letters at the bottom. But, I do understand that fans prefer the art of the original Japanese. So, this way everyone wins. Keep up the good work.
