From an ancient civilization of humans, a fleet of starships --led by battlestar Galactica--search a lost and last remaining colony called, Earth, after the Cylons, their mortal enemies, destroy all other habitable colonies.
Star Trek started in 1966. But the events DEPICTED in Star Trek supposedly take place in the 23rd century. Likewise, the new, reimagined Battlestar Galactica started in 2004; but the events DEPICTED in the series took place about 150,000 years ago. In my original post, I wasn't really concerned with when the original BSG series was made (I knew it first aired in 1978). Rather, I was concerned with when the events DEPICTED in the series and its sequel (Galactica 1980) were supposed to occur. That's what doesn't make sense.
