I'm LDS, and Dave H. is not far off. The creator of the original BSG is a Mormon, and several points of LDS theology have appeared in both versions of the show. One big one is the Quorum of the Twelve, which has a direct counterpart in the Church leadership hierarchy. I believe, however, that the journey of the surviving colonists looking for a new home is based on events in Exodus, rather than some twelfth tribe, which doesn't really fit in LDS doctrine.   See 9 other replies

The creator of the show is Mormon. The show is loosely based on the 12th tribe of Israel fleeing the holy land for the the New World. Mormons believe that Native Americans are descendants of the 12th tribe. I haven't read the Book of Mormon so I don't know of other possible parallels. Maybe someone who belongs to the LDS church can correct or add to this.   See 9 other replies

Don't call other people ignorant when you intentionally misread what they are saying. There is no need to be rude just because you disagree. You are clearly just picking at small mistakes that he made when he probably posted in a hurry without rereading or editing. I think we all know what he meant. This isn't the New York Times. It's a discussion forum on HuluAnd there is so much Judeo-Christian symbolism in BSG, it rivals Kings. Did anyone see that pilot episode? Wow.Though personally I think that BSG tells the story more from an Abrahamic odyssey perspective then a creation myth perspective, which begins later in Genesis and ends in Exodus. The only problem is that in the show storyline, the final five left Cyrth (Cylon Earth) in the Resurrection Ship they had built, during the Centurion up rising. Up to that point, the Earth Cylons were procreating. So Starbuck could not have returned to the Fleet via a Resurrection Hub Ship that was not there. Other than that, I agree with your causality-line. But< if Starbuck is not an angel, how and to where did she disappear?   See 10 other replies

I just have to say, I think it takes a special brand of idiocy and self importance to, in a post discussing biblical interpretation, call other people illiterate while not even knowing if the Bible contains references to the end of the world. Not only does it contain numerous references to the "end of days" and "Final Judgment," but the Bible has an entire BOOK which is commonly accepted to describe the end of the world. It's called the Book of Revelations, and although some biblical scholars now debate its validity, it is still one of the most well known books of the Bible.
