I am entertained by the concept, which, contrary to what many seem to think, is not "lets objectify women." The concept is actually "these women are conceited (annoyingly censored)s and its funny to watch them fight."
The show is predicated on the idea that these three guys will somehow give a true score, but really it is basically arbitrary. It all depends on the individual guys involved and it might as well be random. I can tell you that in the dozen or so episodes I skimmed through, I didn't agree with the panel once on the face (and honestly, I still don't understand how the total package could end up a different score than the face...that's the most important part, and barring some horrible deformity, I can't imagine a body out-weighing a face). Of course, I'm also really picky in general about appearance (in the first episode, for example, Jasmine was the only girl I thought was even slightly attractive). But I digress.
So, yeah, the scores are random and irrelevant, which means the real drama and entertainment in the show is watching the girls fight over who is the best and react to their eventual rankings. Oh, and the host is great. She is hilarious as she just mocks and berates these girls with only the thinnest veneer of "just kidding."
There's always at least one conceited girl who insists she should be higher than the other girls want to put her. She is only correct about that half the time. Then there's the ones with no self esteem who hope they'll be ranked high so they can feel better about themselves, but they always end up disappointed because confidence is visible and attractive. Almost every episode, someone pulls the "try to think about what X would like" as if "surfer" or "nerd" was really enough of a descriptor to determine what kind of face they like. That phrase, by the way, is always followed by a veiled insult to another girl or a loaded self-denigrating comment that they think will make them look humble and elicit compliments. Its very entertaining.
So what's wrong with this show? Well, it takes too long. I understand why, from a production stand point they need to do multiple rounds and repeat so much information, but really, the meat of it for me was the first 10 minutes or so when the host insulted everyone, the girls showed how awful they were, and I got to see how poor the men's taste was. As I watched more and more episodes, I found myself actually watching less and less of each one. Its not like anything changes in round two or three. The girls who were mean round 1 are still mean and usually to the same people in the same way. Their strategy never changes, and they never work together well. After that, its only funny to see the final scores to see if the #5 girl breaks down.
Ultimately, watch it if you like to see women behave poorly to each other, but don't be afraid of the time slider, its your best friend after a while.
