Taking cues from the ridiculous hilarity of "It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia" and the painful hilarity of "The Office," a new comedy, "Back on Topps" adds an American pastime to the mix, baseball.
When Leif and Leyland Topps lose their uncles prestigious baseball card company to an arrogant suite, Gaylen Briggs, the twin brothers are forced to adapt to their new work environment.
"Back on Topps" was created by and stars real life twins Randy Sklar and Jason Sklar, who you may recognize from their commentary on VH1’s "I love the 80s" and the brother’s chemistry is obvious. The dialogue is peppered with baseball references that any true fan can respect, “Sweet mullet of Gaetti!”
Also entertaining are an array of cameos. Sports figures like Kevin Love and Russell Martin appear as themselves while actors like Phil Morris who is best and probably only known for his character Jackie Chiles on Seinfeld and "The Office’s" Ed Helms aka Andy Bernard pop up in the show.
It is refreshing to watch a sports show that leaves behind the clichés of the business for outlandish scenarios that blend current events with the greatest game ever played.
