First off: the title is completely misleading. The people don't attack, so don't get excited. It's more of a comeuppance, really. Also, they're just shrunken, not puppets, and not even all of them are involved in the retaliation, so a more apt title would be: The Comeuppance of Some of the Shrunken People. It has a few laughs, most notably a five-year-old girl who inexplicably wanders the halls of an office building at all hours with no adult in sight, and goes to school at 5:30 am. I've seen funnier bad movies, but it's a good time-waster if you're with funny friends with long attention spans.
oh, if only mst3k were still a show!!! but, luckily i have a green screen, a sly tongue, and a love/hate relationship with crappy old films. if you love to hate old flix, this is definitely on for the books.
A prescient metaphore for the well meaning tyranny of the nanny state: "I'll take care of all of your needs" soothes the puppet master. Will they ultimatley rebel and recover thier liberty and human dignity? Watch and find out!
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this classic 1950's B thriller. Find a copy of Village of the Giants and you've got a great Saturday night drive-in double feature.
This was just on TMC [ a week ago, I believe...]- I personally think that the title is a *bit* misleading, but... Whatcanyado? F`J Cute effects work for the time ~ can be fun, but a is bit long -- can 'drag'..
