Athena: Goddess of War

Athena is now a favorite!! There is so much I could say about this show but I will just give a brief summary. (ok..maybe not so brief ;) ) Good story: Had many intresting twists and turns and what i would call small stories within the story; without getting off track or getting too confusing. Good action scenes: A good mix of gunfire and marshal arts. Scenes were not too cut and dry; yet not too long and drawn out. Had some far fetched scenes but alot was kept believable. And many moves that make you go, "Woahhhh!" ;) Good charators: The bad guys/girls where intimidating and cold; but showed that they weren't just robots but humans with a soft side and a past. The good/guys where of course on the good side and trying to do what's right, yet showed that they were not purfect; also they were good and true without being wimps. Good love story: A deep, loving, romance without being too cheesey. Enough to get your heart pumping but not so much that it turned the Action/Drama into a Soap Opra. Good acting: To me the three most important emotions that actors need to preform believably is, Saddness, Anger and Surprise. And though those are hard ones, the actors on this show did them all very convincingly. They realy put there hearts into it and showed through on the screen. :)

Over all I thought it was very worth watching and I enjoyed it very much!

Many people seem to think that Iris is better and many times the first is better but this time I have to say that I think Athena beat Iris all to pieces! Iris had it's good times but in the end I was disapointed and had to give it only a 3 star rating.

let me just say that i really, really enjoyed watching iris! GREAT show! i wasn't sure what to expect with this one though. obviously since most of the characters from iris were killed they would not be appearing in this show. so far i am enjoying this show just as much. i love the fact that they chose to film on location. it is a way that i can vicariously live through these characters. i knew that i should watch iris first so that i could know most of what was going on during this one, so that is exactly what i did.

ATHENA focuses on action/fighting and character development for the first 10 or so episodes. Then, the show actually starts to be about something and becomes more interesting, but still fails to capture my complete attention as IRIS had. With IRIS, I couldn't go to sleep at night because I had to watch just one more episode. With ATHENA, I'm writing this review while episode 16 is playing in the background and I'm pretty sure I'm not missing much. This show isn't a "must-watch" k-drama (I don't think it's the absolute best that Korea has to offer), but it's still relatively good. I'd say it's about as watchable as 24.Here's hoping that IRIS 2 is as good as IRIS.
